After a random tiered draw to select the starting grid for Monday’s (June 1) Cheddar’s 300, NASCAR Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year candidate Harrison Burton will roll off the grid first at Bristol Motor Speedway.
This marks the first time the young second-generation racing driver will lead the Xfinity field to the green in his young career. Burton will be joined on the front row by his fellow Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Brandon Jones.
Behind the JGR duo will be Team Penske’s Austin Cindric and Kaulig Racing’s Justin Haley. Rounding out the top five starters will be Ryan Sieg.
Points leader and two-time winner this season Chase Briscoe will start 11th at the Last Great Coliseum.
Two drivers will be making their NXS debuts at Bristol. Carson Ware will roll-off 13th for SS-Greenlight Racing while tenured NASCAR Whelen Modified campaigner Patrick Emerling drew the 20th position for Our Motorsports, replacing the seat vacated by Brett Moffitt.
Former NASCAR Cup Series competitor and road course ace AJ Allmendinger returns to the series for the first time since the Daytona International Speedway. Allmendinger starts 27th.
The lineup was selected based upon a random draw, similar to the one used by the Cup Series. The first 12 positions were based on those in the top 12 in the owner point standings. Positions 13-24 and 25-37 used the same process.
Since only 37 drivers are entered, all competitors entered will race, thanks in part to the temporary field expansion due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
